- What is the strategic mission of glasstec 2026, and why have AI, digital technologies, decarbonization and the circular economy become central themes?
- glasstec 2026, taking place from 20 to 23 October in Düsseldorf, is the world’s leading trade fair for glass production, processing and products, bringing together international decision-makers, market leaders and experts from across the entire glass value chain. Its mission is to provide a central platform for exchange, innovation and business. With its hot topics - AI & Digital technologies, Decarbonization and Circular economy - glasstec reflects the topics currently shaping the industry and makes future developments and solutions visible. This is complemented by a high-quality supporting program, including the trade fair conference, which fosters knowledge transfer and international exchange.

- How do you assess the current state of the European glass industry ahead of exhibition?
- The industry is currently facing a challenging environment while undergoing a phase of strong transformation. At our trade fair, this dynamic becomes tangible: the global glass industry comes together in Düsseldorf - this is where the heart of the industry beats. Companies prepare for this moment by presenting their latest innovations, technologies and solutions. At the same time, the trade fair is a place for dialogue. Across different formats such as the glasstec conference and the glass melting pot, experts from industry and research come together to discuss challenges, share perspectives and explore solutions jointly.

- How is the sector advancing on decarbonization, and which technologies or partnerships do you expect to attract the most attention at glasstec 2026?
- Decarbonization is one of the defining topics across the entire glass industry and a key driver of innovation along the value chain. As we see it, the focus is increasingly shifting from targets to concrete implementation. At glasstec, this is reflected in the wide range of approaches presented by exhibitors across the value chain, all aiming to reduce emissions, increase resource efficiency and improve transparency. Rather than one single solution, it is the interplay of different technologies, processes and cross-industry collaboration that is gaining importance. We provide the platform where these developments come together and where the industry’s progress becomes visible in practice.

- How is the industry progressing on circularity, and what still prevents faster scaling in architectural and façade glass?
- Circular Economy is one of our hot topics and a central issue for the entire industry. This is reflected not only in the solutions presented by exhibitors, but also in dedicated formats such as the CircuClarity Two conference, which was successfully introduced at the last edition and will be further expanded in 2026. A particular focus is on topics such as reuse and closed material cycles, which are becoming increasingly important across the industry.

- Which digital technologies do you see as most transformative for the sector, and where are measurable benefits already visible?
- Digitalization is one of the key drivers of transformation across the glass industry. From our perspective, it is not about a single technology, but about how different digital solutions are combined and integrated into existing processes. We see strong momentum in areas such as automation, AI and data-driven production, with exhibitors presenting concrete applications from across the value chain. What is becoming increasingly clear is that digitalization is already delivering measurable benefits, particularly in terms of process stability, quality assurance, traceability and more efficient use of resources. These developments are no longer future concepts, but are increasingly being implemented in practice.

- How will new European building-performance requirements affect demand for high-performance glazing, façade systems and advanced envelope solutions?
- Regulatory developments, particularly in building performance, are important drivers for the industry. At glasstec, this is reflected in the wide range of solutions presented by exhibitors, addressing exactly these requirements. The trade fair brings together technologies and applications that support more efficient, sustainable and future-oriented building concepts.

- What role do Eastern Europe and Romania play in glasstec’s international visitor and exhibitor structure?
- Eastern Europe is an important region for glasstec, both with regard to exhibitors and in terms of its international visitor structure. Countries such as Romania contribute to this international profile through their presence.

- Which exhibitor categories or technologies are likely to attract the strongest interest in Düsseldorf in October 2026?
- The full diversity of the industry comes together - so it is difficult to single out one specific area of interest. What I consistently experience, however, is that visitors come to discover innovations, gain new impulses, do business and, above all, engage in personal exchange. The direct dialogue with exhibitors, partners and experts from around the world is what truly defines the trade fair. To answer your question: we look forward to welcoming the international glass community to Düsseldorf and to glasstec 2026, an opportunity to experience the industry’s latest innovations first-hand.
