Despre aceste evolutii si despre directiile strategice ale companiei ofera in continuare detalii I. A. Kristian Melihen, Export Manager al companiei.- How did the European market for industrial adhesives used in the production of windows, doors and construction elements evolve in 2025, and what are the main trends you foresee for 2026?
- After a period of uncertainty, 2025 marked a turning point with clear signs of market stabilization and a gradual upward trend. Demand became more consistent across several application segments, while customers increasingly focused on supply reliability, technical support, and long-term product performance rather than price alone. This positive momentum continued into the first months of 2026, confirming a more constructive market sentiment. While recent global developments have introduced new uncertainties, they also highlight the importance of reliable partners, flexible production capacities, and forward-looking solutions in navigating a dynamic market environment.
- What role do modern structural adhesives play in the manufacturing of insulated window systems and flush doors compared to traditional mechanical joining methods?
- Structural adhesives are increasingly recognized as a key enabler of durable and high-performance constructions, especially in applications where long-term stability and dimensional accuracy are essential. By effectively compensating for thermal expansion and contraction, they significantly reduce material stress and minimize mechanical defects compared to traditional joining methods. This is particularly important in modern window and door systems, where different materials must perform together under changing climatic conditions without compromising functionality or appearance. Our hybrid adhesives deliver outstanding adhesion across a wide range of materials while providing the flexibility required for elastic, long-lasting joints. At the same time, they support cleaner processing and greater design freedom, which makes them especially suitable for advanced manufacturing concepts.
- The COSMO product range includes a wide variety of adhesive and sealing systems for industrial applications. Which products or technologies are currently most requested by window and door manufacturers?
- As a long-standing innovator in polyurethane adhesives for window corner bonding, Weiss Chemie + Technik continues to lead the market with proven technologies. At the same time, evolving regulations and growing awareness of workplace safety are shaping new product requirements. With the development of the H351 polyurethane corner adhesive COSMO PU 200.500, we offer a forward-looking solution that combines high performance with improved safety, eliminating the need for mandatory training associated with diisocyanate-based polyurethane adhesives.
- How do automation and large-scale industrial production influence the technical requirements for adhesives, particularly regarding processing and curing times?
- The window manufacturing industry, particularly aluminium systems, is still largely dependent on manual processes and skilled labor. However, increasing production volumes are accelerating the shift toward automation. Our fast-curing adhesive technologies are designed to support this transition by enabling higher production speeds, reducing work-in-progress inventory, and contributing to leaner, more efficient manufacturing processes. It is encouraging to see this transformation gaining momentum, including among window and door manufacturers in Romania.
- What role does your in-house production of sandwich elements play in developing and optimizing adhesive solutions?
- Beyond adhesives, Weiss Chemie + Technik produces a wide range of sandwich elements, including PVC, HPL, and aluminium solutions for window and door applications. Our in-house production provides valuable, real-world insights into the interaction between materials and adhesives. This deep expertise ensures that our solutions are not only technically advanced but also perfectly aligned with practical manufacturing requirements. Continuous feedback from our production teams directly drives product optimization and innovation.
- To what extent do certifications and testing carried out by independent institutes influence the development of Weiss Chemie products and the confidence of industrial users?
- Independent certifications and rigorous testing underline the consistent high quality of our products. Just as importantly, they offer customers an additional level of reassurance in a market where reliability and predictability are essential. For industrial users, validated performance is not only a technical argument, but also a practical basis for decision-making in demanding production environments. When used correctly, our adhesives actively contribute to the performance, durability, and overall quality of the final product, while also supporting compliance with the standards and expectations that increasingly define the market.
- What are the strategic directions of Weiss Chemie + Technik for the period 2026-2027 in terms of product innovation and strengthening its position on the European market?
- While we continue to expand internationally, with significant investments in a new state-of-the-art production facility in China to better serve our Asian customers, we remain deeply committed to the European market. Europe continues to be a key reference point for product development, regulatory alignment, and close cooperation with industrial partners. By developing tailor-made solutions that address specific customer needs, we are strengthening our position as a reliable and innovative partner. A key focus remains the expansion of our portfolio of polyurethane adhesives that do not require isocyanate training, bringing added value, safety, and convenience to our customers across all markets.
